Captain Kirk done me wrong
I was planning a trip to drive my senior college student back to campus and since we had some doctors appts. along the way I decided to spend the night in the city where the doctors were located as it was about half way to our destination and the appts. were the day before she was due back to school. Anyway I went to book a hotel and decided to try priceline.com. I went to said sight and chose the "name your own price option". I plugged in the $65.00 option,$65.00 being the highest price I would pay as I figured that was the approximate amount of gas money I was saving by not driving back home and spending the night at home. Anyway Captain Kirk said he was doing some Karate chopping and congratulated me as my offer had been accepted. YIpppee! It was a nice resort type place in Palm Desert. I was excited for my good fortune. I figured it was there off season(115 degrees out and all) and looked forward to the time with daughter. Well, upon check in, I am hit with a surprise, mandatory "Resort Fee" of $23.00 per night. What the What? I paid it and grumbled to myself all night as I did not want to spoil the time for my daughters. It was a beautiful place and worth the money, that is not the problem. The problem is both priceline and the HYATT know that the real room fee is $88.00 per night but they break apart like this to get you there and your agreement with priceline is you can not break your reservation! What if I had been staying a week, that would have been @$161.00 dollars more than I would have budgeted. In laymans terms, priceline and HYATT are ripping people off. Thank you for letting me vent.
